History

Henchen Marina & Fishing Camp is a long-established marina located in Henderson Harbor, New York, with a history dating back to 1938 when it first opened as a sportsman’s destination in the Golden Crescent along Eastern Lake Ontario. Over the decades, it has served as a gathering place for boating, fishing, and lakeside living, offering amenities such as furnished cottages with complimentary dockage and a four-bedroom apartment.

The marina is now associated with a newly formed corporate entity, Henchen Marina Henderson Harbor, Inc., which was registered on January 8, 2026. The new owners, David and Alison LaSpada of Wallkill, New York, also spend their summers in Henderson Harbor. Their vision is to restore the marina to its original character as a fully functioning marina while preserving its long-standing legacy and unique location.

Today, Henchen Marina remains a key part of the 1000 Islands Seaway Region, offering:

  • Deep‑water access and fuel docks

  • Marine store with tackle, live bait, licenses, and specialty foods

  • Pump‑out facilities, grocery, gift shop, and ATM

  • Seasonal operations (April–October) with extended hours in Summer

Henchen Marina has grown from its beginnings as a sportsman’s marina in 1938 into a formally registered business with a continuous presence in Henderson Harbor, adapting to modern needs while maintaining its long-standing role as a center for boating and community life.
